That looks like Pilou Asbaek, the guy who's playing Euron. So it looks like they're streamlining the Balon/Faceless man angle from the book.
And where's his fucking eye patch?

Of all the horrible deaths and twists of fate pushing back on my favorite characters, the thing that still gets me the most is when Ned kills Lady.

So I guess the biggest question is how they handle the Iron Islands stuff (which characters actually appear, which characters get squished into other characters, how the timeline changes, and so on) and whether Aegon son of Rhaegar ("Faegon") ever appears on the show--in my mind, these are the biggest book-lines that could come up that we have to keep out of the show-only thread.

I hope they don't fuck up the Iron Islands the way they fucked up Dorne.

I just think it was hard for them to represent the slow, deliberate nature of the Dornish politics on screen without it seeming boring. Doran's very Hamlet-like in the way he wavers on decisions until the very last moment, and in the books the Sand Snakes were a lot more conniving. Hard to do that in 2 episodes. The Iron Islanders are complex, sure, but I think the political intrigue resembles what we've seen on screen before--the powerful and corrupted vs. the slightly-less-powerful and just--that I have more faith it can come across well on screen.

Oh for sure. You could simplify their story and still make it pretty cool.

I betcha we get Balon's murder, the kingsmoot, and Euron heading out to find Dany. I dunno how big of a role Victarion will play, if any at all.

Where's Asha in the show at this point? Can she feasibly get to a kingsmoot?

I'd be surprised if Euron/Victarion weren't combined into one character.

The show cut Aeron Damphair, so I'm betting they cut Victarion as well. I'm kinda thinking that Euron will send Asha to Meereen, if he doesn't go himself. Though I wouldn't be surprised if he's tied up attacking the Reach, especially with Sam and Gilly there.

I'd be astounded if we saw Faegon at this point. Especially because, the more I think about it, the more certain I am that Aegon is actually a Blackfyre. And I don't think the show has even touched on the Blackfyres. Doesn't really make any sense to start now.

well, aside from Bloodraven being directly involved in that Rebellion and is now teaching Bran. in spite of that, i also think it'd be a surprise that they even bring up faegon

She fled from a half naked man and some dogs while trying to save Theon. She managed to sail from the Iron Island to the Dreadfort in a few episodes so she's probably back to the Iron Islands now. (That was in season 4)

Yeah, you're right. I suppose they could get into the Blackfyre's in one of Bran's weirwood visions, but I think that they probably have a lot of other ground to cover there, so I doubt they bring it up. Speaking of Bloodraven, I wonder if Dark Sister comes into play at all? He was the last known owner of the sword, and they've pretty definitively established what Valyrian steel does to the Others. I'm also wondering what he did with his dragon egg?

As I posted above, the writers couldn't find a way to make the slow, deliberate nature of Dorne play on screen. So it looks like they're just planning to amp it up. As I posted in the show thread: does this mean another war is coming, or that the Sand Snakes are going to work on a more covert guerrilla war?

You mean against the Lannisters and King's Landing? I think they have to go open war to back up what they're saying about a need for action.

The burning fleet probably means an Ironborn will go to Dany, right? Maybe they will use Yara/Asha for Victarion's part in the books as she's not Stannis' prisoner in the show.

That's what I'm thinking. The first trailer had a brief shot of her kissing a woman with a bedslave's tears tattooed on her face, so that would imply that she's in Essos.
