Maybe I’m way off, but my initial thought was this song was about being a parent and how it beats you up and goes by too fast.

I got as far as "hypnotonic resonance I feel" and turned it off.
The melody is clearly non-existant. Whatever Ed is trying to squeeze out of those two notes just isn't producing a melody.
