At least in PA, the following is considered child abuse:

(3) Causing or substantially contributing to serious mental injury to a child through any act or failure to act or a series of such acts or failures to act.

Being that gender dysphoria is : a sense of unease that a person may have because of a mismatch between their biological sex and their gender identity. This sense of unease or dissatisfaction may be so intense it can lead to depression and anxiety and have a harmful impact on daily life. , then this makes sense.

It seems that Virginia just wants to put that explicit act of abuse written into law. Not sure why it's "controversial" unless people don't understand that kids are suffering and this law would help them.

Rehabilitation and counseling for the parents/kids is also part of the legal process with regard to child abuse/child protective services. It's not just punishment. But calling abuse by its name is the first step.

Read up on Mao's revolution. This is weaponizing transition.

Some positive action here. The Virginia ACLU and leading Democrats in the state have come out against this ridiculous bill and it's the sponsor now says she won't bring it to session. Saner heads must prevail as society seeks to balance the protect of vulnerable youth with the role of parents.

If I question anything you say, even there vs. their, I’m out though.

questioning how to treat those with they/them pronouns? no, I'm always happy to have that conversation

questioning the validity of my answers because you want to be allowed to find "bowing" to the needs of nonbinary people a trivial non-issue? yes, that's when I close the door

people I love are nonbinary; you can dismiss their pronouns (and thus their identities) all you want, but I'm not gonna say it's fine

I had that conversation with you, and you got your answers; if you want different answers then go somewhere else, it's not my responsibility

I made light of the difference between "their" and "there" because you're making light of pronouns; you know what was meant in that email, people make typos, it's not a big deal and it's bizarre that you'd private message me further antagonism over a conversation about grammar

Unless I have completely misunderstood you, you believe that pointing out a legitimate spelling error is a bigoted thing to do. That’s disingenuous.

I did not PM her. This is patently false.

Calling out a PM, regardless of who sent it, is a cool and good thing to do publicly on the board.

Bi_3 is just trying to stop Maoism, you can't stop Maoism without breaking a few (former) eggs.

I didn't call you a bigot, I told you that "pointing out a typo" was making light of someone's pronouns in this context; it's pointless and only serves to amuse you; again, it didn't cause me to call you a bigot, but it is a thing that bigots frequently do, so it's a case of "if the shoe fits"

Ms Harmless wrote:I read it correctly Bammer; rather than "correct" them, you can assume they weren't wrong and politely ask for clarification, then do as they ask

also, "there" is pronounced exactly the same as "their"

what will you do when you come up against neopronouns? "fae / faer", "ze / hir", even "it / its"? my genderfluid partner goes by those last pair sometimes, and they deserve to have that respected
:shake:

Someone spells a word wrong and I am to assume they didn’t spell it wrong. Wow.

tell me, in a simple statement, what it is that you don't want to believe

is it just "they/them/there" is probably a typo, or is there something else?

I explicitly deleted it, just as I do whenever someone is too chicken shit to confront me in public
