You Are might well be my favorite post-Binaural song. Certainly it's up there.
Lyrically it leaves a little something to be desired but I'm of the opinion that how Ed sounds is more important than what he's saying on that one, and I think he sounds great (maybe different than "underselling the delivery" as Stip points out). I'm glad he's not howling.

Help Help and You Are, are awesome.
They're matt lyrics so they're not too good. And that you are the lock and im the key shit is hilarious. But i think You Are is the closest they have ever gotten to sounding even vaguely 'sexy' if you know what i mean.

The writing credit for "You Are" is Vedder/Cameron. Did Eddie just write some of the lyrics? All of them?

The "lock and key" part I would've written in 3rd grade. Maybe 2nd.
Favorite Riot Act song? Wow. Funny how different all of us fans of the same band can be. I would have dropped You Are and Help, Help from the album entirely.

I think eddie helped with the lyrics but didnt write all of them. I might be wrong though because I forgot that fact entirely until you said that. I thought they we're all matt.

I think Matt had a few lyrics done and then brought the demo into Ed who finished it. It was originally called 'Undone' as a Matt demo so I'd assume that was part of the original stuff. The title got changed when Ed bought in his 'Undone.'

I thought You Are was the worst song I ever heard on first listen but it really clicked when I saw it live. I really like it now.

the production at the end of the song bothers me. the keys would be fine if they were just a compliment to the guitars (you know, the instruments that the guys who are in pearl jam play?), but there are no guitars to be found.
it sounds way too empty coming out of the last verse.
