the chorus has settled into my favorite part. It’s like
a ten era demo, but sounds authentic to now. If that was the pre-release clip i would have lost my mind

I just said kinda the same thing earlier.

This is ten era pj. It’s Alone. It’s dirty Frank. it’s deep. It’s even flow. But grown up.

the closest pj have gotten to that energy in a while. I know they’re not trying to but closest to themselves at that point.

I purchase the digital version on iTunes and did not get a b-side :-?
I bought it straight from pearljam.com.

The b-side seems to be available only if you buy the version
from the website.

I liked this song more in my listen this morning. Maybe I am finally properly calibrated for this today.

every pearl jam song ever (pretty much) took a few listens to settle in.

Like Ms Harmless, I am loving the lyrics. I can’t remember the last time Ed sounded so genuinely pissed in his delivery. One of the reasons Mind Your Manners doesn’t work nearly as well for me is its energy is not properly pissed off, it’s more of a cute little “let’s get mad haha” session.

In this one though, Ed sounds angry and it’s contagious because those guitars sound angry and by the end of the song it’s getting into that cathartic FUCK YEAH energy that early PJ delivered- that rage against the machine, channeled into sound energy, transforming feelings of helplessness into empowerment. That is our Pearl Jam, and that is why these guys are so proud of this one. I can feel it.

are people comparing this to Royal Blood just because it has a stop / start / stop riff? because Korn did that on album 2

So the B side is just the song without vocals? Why is PRAMG PJ so openly lazy?

Lazy for sure. Was the last real b-side from Riot Act?

finally listening to the flac hd om good headphones. It sure is a modern mix, unmistakably serban ghenea, for a drum heavy track like this I still think the drums are a bit flat. Not as much as earthling though.

That scream around the 3.05 mark, right at the end of the solo is my favorite part of the song.

instrumentals are a commonly done thing now because people like to make YouTube vocal covers using the instrumentals; it's an attempt to follow a trend, I think, more than lazy

My biggest criticism of the vocal is the way Eddie says things like "DESE DAYS" instead of "these". Which is a thing he has done for years now but I still don't get why. I feel like he sounds like he has marbles in his mouth often (and in a different way than his younger vocals were unintelligible lol)

I agree. I also don't like how he makes his "L" sounds or most other sounds, for that matter
