“I was probably insufferable. I was the president of the theatre club, the kid who put Bertrand Russell quotes on their wall.” When I ask who her friends were at the time, she does not hesitate: “Oh, the sluts and the weirdos.”

“I was a 10-year-old fan of Pearl Jam and Nirvana, and I would’ve got into a fistfight defending them. Art mattered.”

In another life... Annie Clark and I would have been best friends.

Take all of that with a grain of salt. Annie tends to lie about stuff like that

Also, if you guys are interested. This New Yorker piece is outstanding. Tons of little tidbits about the new record. Great read as well. I love Annie Clark!

I don't understand when people make this connection between the creatives and the "sluts." My experience was the polar opposite: The jocks ran with the sluts; the artistic types mostly didn't get laid a lot.
I guess I didn't read that she was connecting those two things, trag. But, in my own personal experience, as an artist/thespian since age 12, I can assure you, we got laid all the time. We were all a bunch of sluts.

I wonder if the album got pushed back at the last minute after these pieces were scheduled. It's a bit odd to have all these big pieces coming out with the record still getting put together and no title.

Right?

Or maybe they really did go to war over the cover. :D
