Seems pretty clear who it is....unless Glenn tried to stop it and caught a non lethal beating.

From IMDB:
The people that are hoping for Daryl's death are either Democrats, hipster types, drug users, and ISIS supporters.
Daryl's character represents American patriotism/exceptionalism and republicanism so those are values liberals and radical muslims hate. Also, Russians also would hate it as well since Putin hates America and Republicans.

At this point they've phased Glenn out as a main character anyway. And given how they took the cowardly route and gave us a cliffhanger, I don't doubt it is Glenn anyway. We've been primed once already to see Glenn dying during the midseason finale, so that seems like the easy thing to do. Even though Glenn doesn't have as big a role anymore, they can say "see, no one is safe". I know they say "no one is safe" but they also realize that Daryl is their moneymaker at this point. 6 seasons in, viewing numbers in decline, they'd be dumb to kill off their most popular character on the show.
With all the rumors before the finale that it was Glenn, Carol, or Daryl, I would have loved to see them do something completely out of left field and kill off someone like Michonne.

How is Daryl still so popular? All he has done for the last few seasons is mope around looking sad and occasionally ride off on his bike to get captured.

I actually enjoyed this episode - the tension throughout was great, and it was nice to finally see Rick look truly petrified

I don't get it, either.

I liked him when he still had some real interaction with other characters like his relationship with Carol or Beth. Now he is just there and sometimes goes on missions with some people or doesn't do anything at all for multiple episodes.

My favorite period is the half season between the prison and terminus.

Ha, I think that's exactly when I stopped watching.

See, this is the main reason I think it's NOT Glenn. We've already had enough of the group and Maggie reacting to Glenn's death- even if he wasn't dead. I'm not sure 3 "GLENN IS DEAD" moments in a single season is the most effective storytelling.
Especially when the nonbinding comic story says that GLENN IS DEAD
This is a show that definitely gets off on SHOCKING developments (even if they're not shocking to anyone) to the point of audience exploitation. Glenn's death wouldnt shock at all. Factor in the show hearing already about how they don't ever kill off the principles anymore, the fact that Glenn has become less of a factor wouldn't resonate that much in terms of surprising anyone.
In large because anyone invested enough in the show to actually care, has already spent the morning googling who died in the comics. They'll wait a week to find out. They wont wait 6 months
They want the opening moment of their show in the next season to be OMG FUCKING GRAZY people talking. making it be ANY of the most rumored cast members (glenn or daryl) wouldn't do that. They'll chicken out and kill Abraham, Sasha or Michonne because of their recent relationship status changes. And they'll be convinced that's shocking enough.
and I agree with Kaius on Negan. He is a reasonable leader to an extent (from what I gleaned from him last night), and they'll still be able to explore that next season- and who he killed at the end of this season wouldn't have changed that. But the focus now isn't on his speech, or his sadistic nature. The next 6 months of The Walking Dead discussion will just keep going back to speculation about who died or how pissed people are that they DIDNT. The next 6 months will not be talking about any element of Negan. The worst thing is, their attempt at a SHOCKING DEATH at the beginning of the next season (regardless of who it is) will make the focus of the beginning of NEXT season on OMG _____DIED instead of Negan.
Ending on a cliffhanger was a major misstep to me in the development of their villain.
Having said all that. They're dumb enough to make it Glenn and then be disappointed when absolutely no one is shocked

I binge watched everything up to to half season finale of season 5 so everything is blending together and I wasn't bothered by slow/uneventful because of always having the next episode available. My perception might be kind of biased due to that.
I fully enjoyed the first season.
The second season had a bunch of stupid stuff but overall I liked it more than what seems to be the general consensus. I liked that it focused more on problems that arrived from conflicts within the group in contrast to big herds or a big bad being the problem. It also introduced Hershel who is one of my favorite characters in the whole show.
Three and the first half of four were okay. The prison arc was drawn out way too long and the Governor started to annoy me after some time.
4.5 to 5.5 were very good except for the stupid hospital arc. I don't know what they were thinking with that.
I have a lot of problems with everything from that point onward. I can't say I enjoyed season 6 very much at all.

I still enjoy the first season, and parts of the second. Third is where it really went downhill, and by four, I hated it.
