There was a concert on tv yesterday where they played local metal classics together with our most prestigious symphony orchestra. I watched it maybe for 5 minutes before switching the channel, but it made me think about whether I've actually enjoyed any of these performances where some rock or metal band performs together with a symphony orchestra, and I can't say I have and honestly I would just rather see the band alone. But maybe there are some good ones? And no, I didn't like the Mad Season one either.

When on some bands' tour pages, after the list of the shows that they have coming up, they have a link to "Request a Show."

In what world does that ever work? I'm picturing some poor Brazilian getting her or his hopes up after filling that out, only to have it die on the vine.

Ive been reading the Lollapalloza book, Lollapalooza: The Uncensored Story of Alternative Rock's Wildest Festival and its a great and fun read. That got me listening to a few artists from that very first tour, specially Butthole Surfers and Living Colour. Time´s Up, from the latter, is a great mix between hard rock, pop and heavy...forgot how good Vernon Reid was, he was kinda like the first Tom Morello in a lot of ways.

Remember that band Sponge? Every so often I go back to their first album. They had a few cool songs on the next two albums but mostly crap. I just stumbled across an album (Electric Cattle Gods - The Lost Tracks) from last year of unreleased stuff from around '92-'94 and it's surprisingly good. It really should have been the second album. 1996 me would have loved it. They messed up.
