How do you see this as the owners' fault? I also no longer watch sports unless my home team is playing, and only occasionally make time for regular season games, but I primarily attribute this to no longer being 12.

At this point I don't care. I knew we'd reach this point and there wouldn't be a deal. Back in November sports talk radio around here was like "Oh they'll get a deal done, nothing's going to be cancelled" and I laughed at that.

i know it's not an apples to apples comparison with other teams and other fans, but the ownership for the Cubs has managed to piss away all of the goodwill it built up after 2016 in about three years. from not investing in the on-field product to turning wrigley field and the surrounding neighborhood into a glorified carnival with every last nook and cranny monetized, it's really a sad situation. it's hard to listen to tom ricketts complain about revenue while charging the second highest amount for tickets in the game (the average price for a family of four to go to a game and not sit in the upper deck corner is nearly $400).

as mickey pointed out on twitter, espn's jesse rogers thinks the players are are asking for too much. i'm sure it's no small coincidence that he's also the cubs' beat reporter.
