If pro baseball is such a bad investment, sell the teams.

Burn the RSN deals to the ground. Start over with attractive options for cord cutters and younger viewers. Eliminate regional blackouts. Grow the game by making it more accessible.

News is a couple days old now, but Jeter is out as CEO of the Marlins, and it also seems like he is selling his four percent ownership stake (I assume to the other members of the ownership group). My impression is that he wants to win but it seems like the Marlins are fine with losing

Going to ban the shift, enforce pitch clock, and larger bases (?)
Still can’t figure out a deal. I’m boycotting if they ever have a season this year
Ban the shift? Learn how to hit opposite field. You know, like a major leaguer.

Here’s the thing though, if the players are being instructed NOT to do that, and hitting .210 while pulling 35 HRs is valued by teams more than hitting .320 with 8 HRs, why would they?

Another until-3:00AM bargaining session last night. Last I heard, the league is now open to rescheduling the cancelled games, which was a red line for them last week. I try not to get my hopes up, but that sounds promising.

No kidding.
15 years ago you could get a decent amount of Cardinals games on a local station (over the air, no cable required)
Now you'll need 300 streaming platforms.

MLB making it harder to find/watch games aside, OF COURSE they go with a platform that has no sports presence.

Seems the latest sticking point is the international draft, which the players do not want.

The only way I've been able to regularly watch games without resorting to illegal streams in the past decade was by being a Tampa fan who lives in Pennsylvania and who got a free year of MLB.tv because I have a .edu email (Phillies games were blacked out, of course).
It's a great league. It's run really well.

i will die on this hill: they need to change the rule prohibiting the trading of draft picks. i still don't understand why it's never discussed. it would generate interest, reinvigorate the trade deadline (which now usually goes by with a whimper because no one wants to trade prospects), and generate buzz in the draft.
