What movies are you watching?

I don't even mean this as a bad thing. I just think it's pretty obvious when looking at the movies of people like Godard, Haneke, Bergman, Weerasethakul, Bresson, Kiarostami, etc., that they are of one aesthetically unified genre, just as you could say the same about horror movies made by Craven, Carpenter, Hooper, etc.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Haha, I was being semi-facetious. I didn't mean to insult you. But I think part of understanding criticism is being willing and able to confront personal beliefs and attitudes. A critic highlighting and explaining things they have a problem with shouldn't be taken as an insult, even if they are being critical of a group you may feel you belong to.
