When will the owners and players unite against their common enemy, Russia?

I’ve decided I’m boycotting MLB

I simply don't give enough of a shit about this (or anything in the world really) to muster up the energy for a boycott. If the Rays are competitive again this year I'll watch every game from mid August till the end. But it's certainly dampened my enthusiasm for Opening Day.

MLB had pushed for expanding the postseason to 12 teams -- a plan to which the MLBPA agreed. Additionally, player uniforms will feature advertising for the first time, with patches on jerseys and decals on batting helmets.
Other elements of the deal include:
• A 45-day window for MLB to implement rules changes -- among them a pitch clock, ban on shifts and larger bases in the 2023 season
• The National League adopting the designated hitter
• A draft lottery implemented with the intent of discouraging tanking
• Draft-pick inducements to discourage service-time manipulation
• Limiting the number of times a player can be optioned to the minor leagues in one season
^When a team falls behind by 6 runs, the team's First Baseman must be brought in as a pitcher for 6 outs.

What's the rationale for larger bases? The other rules seem fine to me, assuming the last one is a joke (?).

Pitch clock is dumb. Banning the shift is dumb. I don't personally give a shit what size the bases are (I assume this will make it easier to steal/harder to tag out?)

It's also been touted as a safety issue, although I'm not sure how true it actually is.

Agreed on all counts.

I'm pro pitch clock and anti shift banning.

i think MLB should adopt some ideas as in golf...move the fences in and out every day and change the feet from the pitchers mound the the plate..

I havnt heard if this/isnt on the table, but there was a lot of talk of adapting the little leauge / softball style double 1st base. It seriously makes sense to do this.
Other than that, having a larger 2nd base will definitely help fielders on double plays being able to tap the bag and avoid being taking out, and as someone else said, will give players more of a bag to reach for when attempting to avoid a tag. But mostly it comes down to safety. The double 1st base is no brainer.

I for one had a few chuckles early today at sports radio people saying, "they're on the goal line, just gotta punch it in!" instead of saying, "we're in the bottom of the ninth!"
