thank you! both of these releases remind me of no code. granted, no way the new song will ever compare to "hail, hail" but i feel like this album is going to be more like no code than any other pj album.PHATJ wrote:I’m so happy that I am loving both of these songs while the vast majority of you melt down over SBWM. It makes me more confident than ever that these are really excellent songs pushing into uncharted territory for PJ. Gigaton at least has songs with inspiration, and that’s something that wasn’t evident on the last couple albums. I remember when everyone was scared of No Code too.

Re: The Official GIGATON Thread (real tracklists released!)
The thing I am really loving at this point is that these songs are not reminiscent of any of their prior albums to me. If anything, the closest vibe I get so far is the first disc of Lost Dogs...but that doesn’t fully work either. No Code has a sort of chillin in your living room with the band vibe and they are playing whatever they feel like for you kind of thing going on. If anything, No Code has a Neil Young like vibe in that respect. At least in my imagination.warehouse wrote:thank you! both of these releases remind me of no code. granted, no way the new song will ever compare to "hail, hail" but i feel like this album is going to be more like no code than any other pj album.PHATJ wrote:I’m so happy that I am loving both of these songs while the vast majority of you melt down over SBWM. I'm excited to hear "Who Ever Said" so we can assess the quality of our 1,2,3 punch
pretty sure I already like it more than the last two, maybe three records

SBWM may not be the greatest song - but it's still better than 90% of Lightning Bolt
It probably would have been a pretty good song on Backspacer; considering it's basically the love child of Gonna See My Friend and Johnny Guitar

Wasn't the early word on this album New Wave and Post-Punk vibes?
Got a bit of both with DotC, but...

"Produced by the group in tandem with longtime collaborator Josh Evans, the 12-track “Gigaton” is arguably the band’s strongest and most diverse work since 1998’s “Yield"
diverse.
And with the two songs we've heard, diverse is absolutely the case.

Gigaton is going to be really good, you guys. I’m shocked that I’m convinced of that, but I am.

I was MIA yesterday and apparently I've missed a snippet of a song. So I did a google search and an alternative nation link came up and I clicked it before thinking.
