If you think the vaccine will keep you from going in the hospital or dying then awesome, people should take it. The problem with the vaccine is delta and whatever other variants are going to continue to spread like crazy , no matter if everyone takes the vaccine or not. That of course leads to morbidly obese govs feeling like they have to "do something" and ordering 10 percent effective mask mandates that only idiots like spike have still been following.
everyone taking the vaccine is exactly what would stop variants and spreading.
Didnt seem to help in Israel.
you're likely just considering the eligible, as i mentioned above to sd...
The country jumped out ahead of all other countries on vaccines, and 78% of eligible Israelis over 12 years old are vaccinated.

But Israel has a young population, with many under the eligible age for vaccination, and about 1.1 million eligible Israelis, largely between the ages of 12 and 20, have declined to take even one dose of the vaccine.

That means only 58% of Israel's total citizenry is fully vaccinated. Experts say that's not nearly high enough.

CDC: This vaccine is great against hospitalizations, but 70% effective against disease

America:. Fuck you, CDC! Like 3 out of every 10 vaccinated people are testing positive!

------

CDC: You need 80-90% coverage to stop community transmission.

America: Fuck you, CDC! We've vaccinated, like, half the people and there is still community spread!

And not stopping transmission has us with vaccine passports coming in with no exemptions. If you are not able to take the vaccine, going out is basically not an option. The vaccine is shaping up to be a twice a year mandatory flu shot. I have nothing against that but imagine it is a a depressing though to those who cannot medically take the vaccine that they are not even given the choice to take the risk to go do mundane things like eat in a restaurant or see a movie.
I get that. But there's a huge population here that can get the vaccination but choose not to. And they are getting hospitalized and dying because of their choice, not because they can't get the vaccine for health reasons.
I think it's a bit trickier than this. To McP's point yesterday, some of these people have no real access to a PCP, and their main source of medical info is Facebook. Are they stupid? Yes. Do they need us to get over our mask apathy and try to keep this thing reigned in? Begrudgingly, yes.
I wouldn’t call it apathy.

This wasn’t my point. Verb incorporated the ineligible crowd into the numbers (mostly kids) he used to make his point. That won’t be available to him in a couple months.

Anecdotally, there are a lot more kids testing positive around my area lately, had to get mine tested on Tuesday because of exposure. My kids were negative but we’re up to 6 kids in oir neighborhood positive now. All parents are vaxxed and none of us were positive. I’m not personally worried about it, but whatever variant this is seems to spread a bit more with the kids.
