I just received a warning for engaging with this thread right now.

My car insurance for my old car was never cancelled and I didn't notice it until last month, but they cancelled and refunded the whole amount. Couple of grand. Nice.

Does a classic V8 cost more to insure than a less-powerful, safer car? If so, by how much?

Not as much as you'd think. My current insurance is pretty cheap. It seems to be much more based on your driving record than the car. But maybe really expensive cars are a different story.
