They already did so...no
Systemic racism in police forces around the country has ended?

Since that's impossible without removing systemic inequities in the entire societal structure, something activists have been crystal clear about, I don't think anyone should limit their perception of the goals of the protests to "Justice for <black person>" or "Stop Racist Police ". Those small ideas are what lily white allies comfort themselves with so they don't have to reconcile what's happening right in front of them with their own concepts of enlightenment values and how democracy and economics function. The activists have a much broader goal than "the cops" and one that ultimately requires government violence to enact non-consensual redistribution of assets. I think most progressives do realize what that means and what has happened to nations that have engaged in it, so they retreat to whatever mantras protect them from the truth playing out before them (like "it's the system racism") and think maybe if they try hard enough... signal bright enough... it'll keep that violence away from the ones they love.

wow this thread really escalated

who would have known a Police Academy 2 reference would be so explosive

or maybe it’s the cancel culture warriors who don’t want to acknowledge that some protestors might be going ‘too far’? and it’s ok for people to question their crossing over from non-violent resistance into violent/hooliganism, in a democracy, without (hopefully) being threatened?

John Lewis practiced non-violent resistance

Ghandi practiced non-violent resistance

maybe the strength of message exemplified by individuals with courage in their convictions enough to exercise restraint in the face of violent provocation is more powerful than petty hooliganism? and internet threatery?

i don’t hate the protestors

but there is a way of doing this properly

many of them lack discipline

and are counter-productive

If the point of protest is to draw attention to one's cause, they're doing OK.

there is a better way of doing this without generating ‘bad attention’

That was the pre-2020 plan. I don't think people are using that way anymore.

Yes it sucks that Trump’s gotten everyone to sink to his lowest common denominator level, which he’s made a career of doing. The reality is not every protestor is fucking Ghandi, and you guys know that.
