I've fallen for the Longlegs marketing campaign hook, line and sinker, and I'm very excited to see it.

How?
promotional overexposure, "critical" hype, everything

it's gonna be a good movie but it won't be "the best" or "the scariest" or a "masterpiece"

I think specially in horror, no movie is the "the best' or "the scariest".

Or anything really, which clearly mutes any actual meaning to the statement beyond subjective advertisement.

Agree. Every Ari Aster film is billed like this and they are all pretty bland.

do you like movies just because they're "a hit"? I'll wait and see when I watch it, but 2024 has had some pretty bad movies praised as "hits" so far so that's not really a factor for me
like I said, I expect Longlegs to be a good movie, but not the most scary or traumatising movie I've ever seen, like reviews are saying; sorry if that's being negative

it was just a joke because there were some badmouthing because of the, in my opinion, very good marketing about the movie.
I expect it to be really good, mainly because every Oz Perkins movie is pretty awesome and both Maika Monroe and Nic Cage are personal favorites.

I love the way Nic Cage has proved, if you hang around long enough, youll become a joke and then a parody of yourself, but if you just keep hanging around, you'll get to be cool again for being both
I hate all things horror but i wanna watch this purely cos hes in it, and yes VG is right, brilliant marketing did it for me.

Im also happy for Maika Monroe, she is a brilliant actress who gave enormous performances in genre movies, and doesnt get the recognition she deserves, i feel because those are genre movies.
But she is awesome in The Guest, It Follows, Watcher , The Stranger and now this one.

yeah I like Oz Perkins and Monroe, Cage I couldn't care less about in general but he's done some bangers in the horror sphere in recent years so he's not without skill and discernment

it's just got stretches of slow paced walking around, which I'm fine with; I love when my horror is pared with relaxation, if you can get me vibing you're more likely to get me scared when shit happens
