I now know why the whole tour went on sale before the album dropped. 20% of the show could be this dross. Damn.

I sat in front of a mirror, motionless, and played this song on repeat for 6 hours

We still make records to be listened to — not that everyone will listen to a record track one to twelve in a row or side A or Side B — but we still make 'em in case somebody does want to listen to it like that, that's how we make em…

I definitely enjoyed Running more than Dark Matter yesterday. Not sure that will hold up over time, but the Running Bridge > Dark Matter Prechorus, so that's my infatuation of the moment.

You can hear the moment at the beginning of Running where it could have turned into spritz, but doesn't. And the outro is great, thrashing fun.

imagine you pay $900 to see pearl jam on tour and they come out with 12 of these

arenas will stop booking them

staring out at a motionless and confused crowd

fortunately they know better and we might only see these P.O.S. two or three times in a show

the one good part about being a captive corporate consumer act

your distributors will require better product

Same. It might be recency bias; I’ll see where things settle in a few months. But man I’m in love with that gorgeous bridge.

This song isn’t really that bad. If it didn’t have the whole crew chiming in vocals and a bit less old man screaming from Ed it would definitely fit in with 90s PJ stuff. Love the bridge

I'm into both songs, especially Dark Matter just because of the type of song it is and PJ don't write enough of those heavy midtempo funkers now; I just need the rest of the album, more depth please

There is some pretty cool guitar work alternating with the standard pop punk chords. I keep forgetting it’s there and being pleasantly surprised when it is

The worst moment in Running is when Ed decides to yell the last line of the bridge, when simply singing it as he does the previous few lines would have worked. For as much as I think he nails those delivery decisions in Dark Matter, he whiffs here.

The "dictator, love hater"/"Victrola, controller" lyrics are fine, though I think I liked it a bit more when I thought it was "container, contain us"/"controller, control us."

I don’t have a read on the Victoria, controller line. Feels a little tantrumy especially with the outro
