To quote me on the other page:
harmless wrote:This album is a bit like raiding the Pick-n-Mix at the cinema, and you grab all of your favourite colours and textures and tastes to put in the bag. But when the lights go off and the movie starts, you reach into the bag, put your first morsel in your mouth, and realise you accidentally picked up chocolate raisins instead of chocolate peanuts.
All of which doesn't put me off the movie, and I might even try another chocolate raisin, just to make sure I don't hate it, because most of the stuff is nice. And even if I find I still don't like the chocolate raisins, I'll still find it fun to throw them at the couple kissing in the next row. The album will go where I wanted in the rankings.

Canon: Ten-Riot Act

Good latter-day PJ: Lightning Bolt

OK latter-day PJ: S/T and Backspacer
So all we get out of you after 3 months and 10 billion pages is that you kinda don't mind chocolate raisins???

It was all about the journey for harmless. Never the destination.
I hate chocolate raisins but I'll eat them if they're there because I'm greedy and they're covered in chocolate. You can't mistake my OTT use of metaphor for apathy, at least I've not talked about waves yet! Everything is about the journey. And I'm sorry but not a single album in the world would've justified my giving it three months of my life like I have

I think that other thread should now be renamed: And, on October 7th, Harmless rested.
And verily he said of Lightning Bolt: "It is good!"

I will only allow him to rest and eat his chocolate raisins after he's finished his drum review.

Stip, can we get a place holder thread for that so he's forced to do it?

Most of the album benefited from the teasers in the vignettes, some of it didn't. I think Infallible suffers because of the direction I thought the song would take based on the clip. It turned out way more accessible than I would have imagined. But..its not a bad song...I know I'm going to like it a lot..I just need to get past the initial shock of it sounded like it does.

One of the highlights of this record is Jeff's bass playing that isn't on this record.

I think most people feel similar to this - I know I do. I wouldn't be surprised if, in 3 months, this song climbs to #1 for a lot of people.

It may be my early favorite...then again i barely listened to the soundcheck recording so i didn't have any built up expectations.

Agreed, great job.

Listening to the "new" songs on the way into work and SBM and Yellow Moon stood out as a nice pairing. Future Days is weak and when I hear the piano intro all I can think of is the beginning of the Meatloaf song "Objects in the Rearviewmirror".

Do you think we should collaborate on a grading rubrick for RM?
