1. Vitalogy - This album is a masterpiece and it belongs in the conversation with the best rock albums ever made.

2. Binaural - This has grown so much for me over the years. I wish we'd gotten a finished/official Tchad Blake version of this album. I'm fairly certain I'd rank it PJ's best album. Sleight of Hand is absolutely PERFECT.

3. Yield - Consistently strong songs, but more than anything Yield just sounds so damn good. BOB really did an amazing job. Where have these sensibilities gone?

4. Vs. - Raw, blistering energy, powerful. A classic in its own right. I still love listening to Vs.

5. No Code - This one is difficult to place for me, and this is as high as I can reasonably place it. There is a lot to love about No Code, but inconsistencies hurt it a bit.

6. Ten - I've placed this as high as number one in years long past. And in reality, it has as many top shelf songs as any PJ album (probably more). But it is 25 years old now, and I might listen to the album once a year. It is the reason PJ is PJ, and it is the reason this band has been my favorite band since I was 11 years old. But it has nothing left for me to discover, and my desire to regularly listen to Ten went away ten years ago.

7. Riot Act - There is a lot of material here. Much of it is very good, but I find very little on Riot Act to reach the heights of the albums that came before it. I also just think it's a bit too long. And the bottom end tracks on this album are some of my least favorite in the PJ catalog.

8. Pearl Jam - Terrible production, some decent songs, some horseshit songs (I'm looking at you, WWS). I really think this could have been a much stronger album with the inclusion of Cold Confession (and Let it Ride), and some reasonably good production. It's just not that fun to listen to in its current state, which is a shame.

9. Lightning Bolt - Just like S/T, this album was ruined by awful mixing and production choices. There are some songs here that had great potential but just got completely neutered. It's a shame but it detracts so much of what LB could have been. And oh yeah, there are a couple of awful songs too.

10. Backspacer - Fuck this shit.

Last time I ranked them I wrote:

Ten
Vs
Vitalogy
No Code
Self Titled/Pearl Jam/Avocado
Yield
Backspacer
Lightning Bolt
Binaural
Riot Act

Possibly switch ST/Yield and LB/Binaural....

^So I guess combine that one and the recent one I just did and that's my ranking *shrugs*

Putting Lightning Bolt above Binaural might be the most retarded opinion ever posted here. Seriously, get bent.

I can go either way with those as seen by the fact I switched them in the two rankings....I can't really decide. They are both weak albums IMO. Binaural, LB, and Riot Act as my bottom 3 is the only one Im sure of. When LB came out I thought it was better than backspacer, but after relistening a lot Backspacer holds up a lot more

The fact that you even consider them close to each other is disturbing

LB is the only PJ album I would call "Bad".

LB and Backspacer are both bad. I don't listen to any songs off of BS anymore

Backspacer isn't what I want from Pearl Jam, but unlike LB it knows what it wants to do and it does it well. My criticism is it is not Pearl Jam to me.

Though Binaural is also not the Pearl Jam I want either so *shrugs*

Backspacer is a quick easy listen at least and the majority of the songs are good at what they do. Binaural is just a slog.

Backspacer is a little nice experiment. Still listen to some of its songs.
LB is just awful.

Unpopular Pearl Jam opinion here but I find the released version of Binaural to be pretty hard going too. The earlier, longer tracklist is somehow way more enjoyable.

That is an unpopular opinion. Thanks for sharing!
