Hmmm. I think Nevermind and In Utero are so good that it seems like a crazy statement, but you might be on to something. It was a very special and very human performance.

i agree that Albini's In Utero is way more rocking and sludgy than the original, which it still sound kinda close to Nevermind.
I would pay to see a full show of the band and St Vincent and another singer filling in for Kurt.

Not really, I don't think the original In Utero mix sounds very close to Nevermind. Bar two songs, it's still Albini's mix.
The 2013 mix is a frequently misunderstood curio. It's not meant to be 'closer to the band's original intent' (or similar), like some remix projects.

For the record (I know that most of you know and that it is hard to explain):
Albini's 1993 Mix = Mocked by Geffen, then second-guessed by the band Album as released in September 1993 = Only two songs replaced with new Scott Litt mixes, entire master fiddled with in mastering by Bob Ludwig (which Albini hated) That random German vinyl pressing = Albini's 1993 Mix un-touched when someone at Geffen pulled it by mistake - collectors spooged 2013 deluxe remaster = Albini-approved non-fiddled remaster + the two rejected Albini-mixed songs as bonus tracks in digital for the first time 2013 mix = deliberately different remix in lieu of having any more alternate mixes to use, and nothing more - poorly explained in marketing 2023 deluxe remaster = a piece of shit along with the rest of that inept cash-grab of a box set "In Utero Demos" 1993 bootleg = a poor cassette copy of the Albini 1993 mix before mastering, which means it was basically worthless from day one
The above is completely misunderstood by most of the population to this day (and dumbass farms like Reddit and YouTube aren't going to make it any better).

This is the Back to Black pressing and it’s my preferred version of the album.
I seem to recall (I could be wrong) that it "turned up" as a re-pressing and then they just re-used the same stampers again later for the Back To Black thing after people started creaming over vinyl again.
For a while it was obscure and highly sought after but then it became more common.
The Albini remaster from 2013 is easily the closest digital iteration of what was on that vinyl, if you substitute those two songs.

If I have my versions right you should look for the 20th Anniversary version, the cover art has DELUXE EDITION at the bottom.
The full Albini mix is denoted with "(2013 Mix)" on Disc 2.
The original mixes of the two tracks that were remixed by Litt on the initial 1993 release (Heart Shaped Box and All Apologies) are at the end of Disc 1.
Correct me if I'm wrong, Trees and Spenno.

It would at the very least be associated as the first 12 tracks on the 2013 deluxe edition / 20th Anniversary Edition and the bonus tracks are after that.

Don't know what you mean by "full Albini mix".
2013 Mix is the alternate version.
Disc 1 is the remaster he asked about.
