I'm 100% with you on the financially dubious decision to see an unknown. I actually had to pull out of an EdVed solo show for $$$ reasons so I'm not about to throw cash at any old chump.

I have to take my statement back, actually -- seeing Band of Horses open for PJ a few years ago definitely made me a fan of them. I also fell head over heels for Joanna Newsom after seeing her open for Will Oldham in 2004, but it ended up being a one-album fling.

Yup, I became a big BoH fan after seeing them in Newark back in 2010 w/ PJ.

Curious to see who Cornell will have produce the new solo thang...

Just grabbed Colorado 1990-08-01 off zomb. There's a harmonica solo during Incessant Mace. Awesome.

Great recording, performance and set too. Chris's voice really shines on this one.

Beyond The Wheel, Flower, Gun, Loud Love, Get On The Snake, Big Dumb Sex, Hunted Down, Full On Kevin's Mom, Ugly Truth, All Your Lies, I Awake, Hands All Over, Incessant Mace. 9 minute version of Ugly Truth. Worth seeking out.

Standout tracks are Wheel, Mace, Hands and Truth with Truth being the show-stealer. Whole show is great though, and Chris' voice is top-notch. Really funny intros to Big Dumb Sex and I Awake (Chris dedicates 'this sweet syrupy love song which rolls off my tongue' to 'the controversial Matt Lukin,' who's in the audience).

reeder, i feel a little bad requesting shows from you all the time, and you've already been pretty generous. but when you get a chance, could you up the Feb 12/89 show to mega, assuming you've got it? Early soundboard i haven't heard with a good looking set including versions of Thank You, Mace, and i do wanna check out at least one other version of Earache. Whenever you have time man. Thx.

Notes: This is an excellent-sounding soundboard audio from early 1989. There's a lot of reverb on Chris' voice and
his guitar doesn't seemed to be mixed all that loudly, but Kim comes through loud (and I mean LOUD) and clear. This is
a fantastic show with TONS of energy and Soundgarden at the top of their game. Highly recommended.

The upshot is that I'm now heading over for Soundgarden's headlining show in Melbourne on the 24th!

I don't see why not, I'd certainly watch them if I was already going to be there.

It's essentially Billy Corgan and some other dudes playing Billy Corgan songs, it doesn't necessarily need to be compared to the Smashing Pumpkins of old.
