Just finished it.

Well seeing this one after Jedi didnt help the many mistakes this movie has....specially the pacing. Jedi and Empire are masterpieces, and this is just merely okey.

Still, there are great things here, the first sequence with the First Order trying to get the map, its insane how good and violent it is. The Stormtroopers coming down, Finn being nervous, even Kylo's first appearance...is really good. After that the high points are Han and Chewie of course, and the nightmare sequence....and the end, my god...its fuckin good...the first SW movie with a cliffhanger as an end.

The worst part of watching this one after Jedi is that i realize how weak the new characters are...all i wanted was more Han, more Luke...hell, even more Leia...Rey and Kylo are good, but Finn is boring, Poe doesnt really exist, Hux is awful and Maz Kanata is just the worst..yezz, that was one was really bad i hope she is dead.

Well, im hoping this one is the worst of the new trilogy...im really exited with the next episode.

Hang on.

The new characters and Rey in particular are the best thing about this film.

Rey and Kylo are good for sure...Poe doesnt quite exist as a character. Its almost like a superhuman here...pretty much everything he does is great. Weird...Finn could be cool too, but im not sure yet were are they taking him.

Maz and Hux are awful..specially because of the perfomances from both actors.

Snoke is interesting....Did you notice how calm and good are the lord siths with his apprentices? While Yoda was a fucker with Luke..

Hux is supposed to be that nazi archetype writ large. His scene at the rally nails that. He's in front of a huge crowd of his men. He has to project and loudly to force the manifesto and congratulate them on their contributions to the effort. That part is perfect.

His power play and power struggle and tittle tattle with snoke is also perfect. They're vying for position. They both are in each other's way. It works.

Interesting you pick up on maz and Poe. She had a part going on in the story but they wrote her out cos she wouldn't add anything if they brought her along.

Poe was to die much earlier in the film. Probably at kylos hands in that first scene only Oscar Isaac asked jj to not kill the character yet as he'd played characters that died in his last few films and didn't want to do it again so jj changed the story for him.

He really should have died in his hero assault on starkiller base. But now he has a much more expanded part in the next film it seems.

well yeah i get what they are trying to do with Hux, but the actor is just plain terrible. The whole Hitler thing is just...so obvious it hurts. I hated it.
The same with Maz, i guess Lupita was so awful at doing the acting they just cut her out..and i hope she doesnt come back.

About Poe...i dont mind him dying at all...it would be kinda cool.

i think part of hux we may not be able to appreciate until we see where the series goes is the youth. both hux and ren are insecure kids manipulated by Snoke. It gives Hux an extra dimension that isnt immediatley apparent. I hope they dive further into that

They have an awful lot to do in 8 but I don't think they'll even try.
Phasma is being reintroduced and we're told she's bad ass. Few new characters to set up and introduce. Then filling out Poe Hux Kylo and of course Snoke. All while the film focusing on Luke?

I really hope they let this one be a longer film. It really feels like it needs to be. They've a huge amount to set up in terms of plot and character development and stakes in this one.

im not sure a character like Hux will be more featured in the new films...i guess it is what it is i dont see him doing a lot more. The same with Poe or Phasma.

Is it assumed that Phasma got off the starkiller base before it blew?

Yeah, she's in it.

Seen a few different reports over the last few months that she'll have a much bigger and relevant part in Ep 8. But who knows.

Maybe she will majorly help the Resistance with very little coercion again.

I'd be happy never to see her again but as Joey said, she is due for a larger role in VIII.
Possibly hunting down Finn.

What if she hunted down and killed Finn?

Guess that all depends on how you feel about Finn
