The training montage was 100% from any one of the 90s Hercules and Xena episodes (by the Evil Dead team) where they defend a village right down to the two bumbling guys who can't do anything right. Which came from any western or samurai movie on the same subject. I love Hercules, Xena, Army of Darkness, cowboys and samurai so I was all in.

It definitely scratched a very specific itch. It was wonderful in that certain way. I think my favorite part of the whole thing was the utter absurdity that it all happened in one long day.

Just watched episode 4 with my kids. They loved it. I hated it. I specifically mentioned the A Team, and my kid’s response was “what’s an A Team?”

I love it when a plan comes together.

Good not great. Production values are generally good. Unremarkable music. I came in expecting something like Rogue One narrative quality. Not there yet.

I liked the second ep better than the first. I’m fully onboard with the main theme music. The rest is pedestrian. I think my expectations going in were too high in terms of the narrative and thus I’m left a bit wanting at the story being told thus far, i.e. “when is this show going to kick into high gear?” The stakes feel too low. I’m probably judging it too harshly and need to give it time to develop.

Each episode is better than the last. I liked the score throughout in E3. Agree with everything durdencommatyler said. Action sequences are good but clunky. I expect Mandos to fight at Jason Bourne speed. They all moved like overweight chonks with jetpacks. WHEN CAN I BUY THE ALL-BESKAR MANDO ACTION FIGURE?

I'm still struggling to reconcile my expectations and desire for higher stakes with what we're being given (though I recognize high stakes may be right in front of our faces with Baby Yoda and what his existence could mean). I'm in love with the theme song. Gina Carano is not good at acting. The script isn't doing her any favors either. The bar server's performance made Gina Carano look like Meryl Streep (FYI: that was Josh Gad's wife).

I'm fine with the clunky fights. The exquisitely timed ballet that is the modern day action fight is bull shit really. No one can fight that fast that perfect for that long. Fighting is awkward and ugly. You should be tired after 30 secs. I was fine with Gina Carano's acting only because she was so bad in the Expendables she's improved 1000% since then. Plus I liked her character. I can put up with a lot if I like you.

And Cara Dune is an interesting character, for sure. I just wish a better actress was playing the part. But I'm still interested and invested.
