Quote:
The US has tested fewer than 6,000 people out of a population of 327 million. By contrast, the Netherlands, with 17 million people, is testing that many every day.
Epidemiologists say accurate testing is the single most effective method to counter the disease’s spread.

All schools and colleges closed here for 6 weeks. People being asked to work from home where possible. Pubs bars clubs etc allowed remain open but owners asked to ensure social distancing.
I’m fascinated to see how many still travel. It’s usually around 500,000 people come here for paddy’s day. Which has been cancelled.

Local universities are closing for two weeks here in Southern CT.
Hosted a fundraiser at the brewery for the New Haven St. Patrick's Day Parade last Friday, event was cancelled Monday with the committee being told midday and somehow a local television station was already outside to gauge their reactions.

I’m concerned about the financial impact on people. This is going to be absolute hell for a lot of people who never get sick but miss X paychecks. Damn.

Public Information Officer, Washington Emergency Management Division
Emergency Alert
Starting today, our state will prohibit events of more than 250 people in King, Snohomish and Pierce counties to slow the spread of #COVID19. This order applies to gatherings for social, spiritual and recreational activities. These include but are not limited to: community, civic, public, faith-based, or sporting events; parades; concerts; festivals; conventions; fundraisers and similar activities. The steps to limit the impact of COVID-19 on workers and businesses in WA are outlined on this website. The decision to prohibit large-scale events was not taken lightly – and involved discussions with local elected, business and civic leaders. This is a prudent strategy to slow the spread of the virus, reduce the number of those infected, and help prevent serious illness. We continue asking people to help - we are all part of the solution. Wash your hands. Cover your coughs. And stay home when you’re sick. We are strong and resilient – and Washington state will get through this.
the church thing is going to be difficult to enforce because there are a lot of people who are going to find Jesus in the coming days and want to be there.
also I noticed yesterday that the toilet rolls in the bathrooms at work were missing. not run out, someone took the whole roll. wild.

My wife has some new responsibilities at work that every six weeks will require her to drive down to the Big City, stay in a Big Hotel, and attend an all-day meeting with several dozen people from all over the state on a Big College Campus. They offer arrangements for teleconferencing in, but since it's her first one she insisted on driving down. I'm not happy. Hopefully they call of the meeting today before she leaves.

You can get exposed to the virus and be carrying it and spread it for 4 days before you even know you have it. Incubation period.

This is where I’ve been for two weeks, now. We’ve been preparing since the first case landed in the US.

More liberal lies. There's gotta be some 108 year old lady that survived the Spanish Flu.

I mean, realistically, no one has any idea what the future is or if the past even happened. Our brains are constructing all of this as we go.
