The funny thing about the Afghanistan pull out is that apparently no one learned anything about the Iraq pull out and we had a very similar outcome (Islamic State only took over part of Iraq and Americans were not too adversely affected).
The politicians dictated the scope of the mission and the troop levels, apparently being unwilling to listen to commanders about what was achievable with what headcount.

When the initial invasion went so bad there was speculation that some members of the Russian FSB had spent all the bribe money they were supposed to use to secure the loyalty of Ukranian officials on themselves. There wasn't a massive purge, at least publicly.
It's confusing that we would have any HUMINT in Russia, because very publicly all US agents were rolled up in China and Iran because the system to onboard new informants bled into the more "secure" system not too long ago. It does however line up with the US calling almost the date of the invasion while almost everyone else was saying it wouldn't happen.

I saw the video of Prigozhin screaming at the camera while he stood among all the bodies of his men. Crazy shit, being on the wrong side of the fight.

The definition of hypersonic is pretty dumb. This one is the spaceship one of ballistic missiles. Just strap a rocket to a large interceptor and call it Guichi.

Maybe if they ask nicely, the Ukrainians will give them back some of the ones they confiscated.
