this performance was fan-flipping-tastic. raw and rockin. mike's guitar in the outro? oh hell yes.
and then.... the shiny, neutered studio version came out.. mike buried deep in the mix, eddie way out front (where the nonsense lyrics couldn't hide), and the song was never the same

A really bad performance from Eddie and, to me, the first visible sign that his voice was on the rocks.
But agreed that the band sound amazing and heavy in this version.

yeah, Ed was so breathy that night. He would go and do it better on the tour. The band sounds fucking good.
Also the mix is awful.
I love Got Some so much.

Yeah, that performance was a sad night for me. I was shocked to see Ed not be able to perform at a decent level on TV. It colored my enjoyment of the record too.

the mix sucks ass but the band is on absolute fire.
however, it's probably the worst performance ed's ever given before a live studio audience. and, not that it matters, but he looks terrible here. thank god he rebounded from this.

The conan performance was such a weird thing. The band was obviously in LA recording when Conan's show started to replace Leno. But the album was not ready and the songs weren't done. And yet they still went out on the show.

Got Some on Conan>Ole on Fallon>Comfortably Numb with Roger Waters.....that was a ROUGH stretch.

Watching Ed struggle through their ACL taping was the biggest sign to me.
