This is the rabid beast in a cage lashing out. He knows he's in trouble with the Dems controlling the house and this is Trump doing everything in his power to keep out any potential legit indictments against him and his family.

They were lucky that Sessions recused himself. They learned from that and no one is going to do the 'right' thing again.

This is the least surprising breaking news of the year. The real surprise would have been if Jeff Sessions still had his job as this week ended.

Trump could fire Mueller if he wants, but House Dems could just keep his investigation alive by appointing him in charge of whatever they create.

If it comes to this, I'm hopeful (but perhaps foolishly so) that Roberts will stand up against Trump. He very much wants to push the nation's law to the right, but as we saw in NFIB v. Sebelius he doesn't want to wreck the Court's legitimacy in doing so--especially with some on the left already chomping at the bit to delegitimize the Court's power on its right wing due to the whole Garland/Gorsuch/Kavanaugh fiasco.
