That Johnny Guitar lyric is the absolute worst because not only is he being overly folksy, he's also unquestionably doing a weird (and potentially offensive) faux-ebonics thing.

One thing I'm hopeful about is that I feel, by and large, PJ have been pretty successful at picking first singles that are indicative of what the rest of the album holds in store (and how it contrasts from previous records). Even going back to Vitalogy, STBC, Who You Are, Given to Fly, NAIS, I Am Mine, Worldwide Suicide, The Fixer and (to a lesser extent) Mind Your Manners all give a pretty good idea on what that album is going to sound like and how it differs from the last album. I don't necessarily expect all of Gigaton to be as out there as Dance, but if that song's adventurousness was a feint compared to the rest of the record, I'd be pretty surprised (and disappointed).

Two interesting examples Spenno but stip beat me to it. They’re both in character songs.
Neither from eds perspective. And they work a helluva lot better than his awful attempts at in character such as unemployable. Which is outright utterly embarrassing attempt.
