Hidden Figures. Even though it was a super conventional Hollywood script, and the entire plot was telegraphed from the first scene, I still really enjoyed it. Really sweet, feel-good flick. Taraji Henson and Janelle Monet are both so beautiful.

I can't believe I forgot to mention: What was up with Kirsten Dunst's accent in this movie? It was all over the place!

I don't mind going by myself, that's how I see movies that my wife would never see but have to be experienced in the theater like Mad Max or John Wick. It's just that this is, again, a boutique theater with maybe 100 seats (if that). Donnie Darko is a film to watch and then discuss, hence why it would be sad to see it alone. Maybe I'll drag my son. He's almost 12, he can handle it.

I wrote a paper about the music and it's use in the movie for a college movie class, got an A on it. This was in 2005 so I was able to compare the usage of music in the original film vs. the director's cut. I don't hate the director's cut, but I liked the music where it was originally. It just felt better thematically.

I'm really not a big fan of the Director's Cut. It's fine. It's a nice archive piece to have. But when I watch it, I always watch the theatrical cut. It's way better, I think. And I totally echo your thoughts on the musical differences.

I'll look at it, but I can't imagine a book could come close to giving me the type of pleasure the movie gave me. Just watching him work was the best part.
