Men! I have found the movie for us to watch. It's called Alone in the Wilderness, and it's basically about a man who lives deep in the woods of Alaska and builds a log cabin. You might think that a movie like this would be full of cliched musings about the nature of solitude and the beauty of the wild. You would be wrong. It's quite simply just a guy building a house in the woods and it is beautiful. Find this movie today, men.

I've read the book they published of his journals. You should check it out Argo. Gives you even more insight into the life. It's great

I'll look at it, but I can't imagine a book could come close to giving me the type of pleasure the movie gave me. Just watching him work was the best part.

The PBS station around here used to play Alone in the Wilderness a ton when they were doing telethons. Great movie.

Same here & they still do. And I usually wind up watching some when I see it on, at least until the next pledge break.

Whenever there's active promotion on the part of somebody else, whenever I see somebody all dolled up for a fancy photograph and someone's handing out flyers or whenever there's active promotion for something like that, as an imposition on my day, I hate all those people and I want them to fail. I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

Watched Dreamgirls and it was pretty good, except for the Beyoncé role and how it would appear to be how she's modeled her life since then. I mean, is she or is she not basically the Jamie Fox character at this point?

Also I didn't know it was based on a show. I thought it was weird in the middle how all of a sudden it turned into a Broadway show with everyone singing lines at each other and then they didn't do that again. Turns out, hey hey.

Argo, we all knew about the PBS movie and has been working diligently to keep it from you. But we all knew that one day you'd find out the truth.

I found it because Scoot McNairy included it in his list of five favorite films on Rotten Tomatoes.

I saw Sixteen Candles for the first time about 10 years ago. And I was shocked.

I saw it a bunch of times years ago, but it had been at least 12-15 years since I'd seen it. It's disappointing, too, because I really think Anthony Michael Hall's character grows a bit through the course of the movie, and it's a much more natural, believable growth than Jake Ryan's. Then he fucks a drunk girl and we're...supposed to high-five him? I remember the movie being smarter than it was. Trading Places was great fun in a lot of ways, even though it's pretty silly at heart. I don't really like Dan Ackroyd, and I think that helps in laughing at his descent throughout the film.

Anyone ever seen The Wild Life, Cameron Crowe's next screenplay after Fast Times At Ridgmont High? I'm curious to check it out.

I watched it quite a bit in the 80s (yes, I'm old as fuck). Not Fast Times, but not a bad movie either. I didn't even realize it had come out on DVD. I remember it hadn't been available for the longest time, might have to pick it up.

Okay, im into that. The ending made it very intriguing and really enjoyed how he tied that together. Cool. Im looking forward to what comes next.
