Will do. I'm hoping to get out of work a bit early (like in an hour; fingers crossed). I'll give a spin tonight.

You should be reading.

I've been listening to the Lyre of Orpheus a lot lately, especially the title track. Love love love

I would say the greatest hits collection he put out like 16 years ago is really good.
I concur with this guy.

My favourite of his is And No More Shall We Part. Joey, I'll send you a little list of the gems.

I agree with the recommendation that the best of CD is a good place to start.

I'm less fond of the the Bad Seeds' post-90s records, though Push the Sky Away was really great.

"No More Shall We Part" is great too, probably the best of what I consider to be a sort of "piano ballads albums" trilogy, comprising it, "The Boatman's Call," and "Nocturama."

As I'm a lazy bastard here's the whole album.

Check out: As I Sat Sadly by Her Side, Love Letter, 15 Feet, The Sorrowful Wife, Darker With The Day.

And here's the playlist for the best of. I was playing this just yesterday. Oh man is this a fine way to spend an hour.

Listened to Abbatoir Blues/The Lyre of Orpheus all the way through, front to back.

And all I can say is...

I'm a genuine asshole for not listening to Nick Cave sooner. :|

The intensity of the good ol' days is pretty hard to beat:

About to pull the trigger on a show. You going to see him in January, Spenno?

I thought Joey might appreciate a more subtle introduction. Some of that older material is so SO intense.

Not at this stage, though Mrs Spenno might.

It's a beginning to sound a bit like Christmas.

I still haven't heard the new album. Not quite in the right frame of mind yet.

I've got 2 tix for a show in Jan but the wiffey ain't a Nick Cave fan, so Ima need to find a plus one. Any Aussie RMers planning to be in Perth for Aus day 2017?

I like the new album, especially the 2nd half. Its not so heavy as you may expect it to be. I actually get a strong vibe of 'hope' from it for some reason.

Or maybe it's more "we are strong and will go on together" more than hope, I'm not sure, but it's not all just doom and gloom is what I'm (trying) ((badly)) to say.

Just listened to Skeleton Tree. There are some amazing tracks on there and a few that need another couple of spins. It sure is of the same ilk as PTSA yet with some of the fragility of Boatmans or some of NMSWP.

Top stuff.

I lucked out and got a clean Skeleton Tree LP on my first try. Although they've had production errors and delays, every one of my NCBS vinyl releases sound excellent
