the younger thanos. technically he is an eternal though a mutated one (though whether he is a mutant or not goes back and forth)

Maybe is because it's based on my favorite era of the comic. Maybe it's the nostalgia for the team and book that I hold. Maybe it the fact two of my all time favorite X-characters are in it. But I really want to see New Mutants. I fully accept that it could be horrible and I'll hate it, but I just want to see these characters onscreen. They even cast a few of them spot-on.
