It´s monumental, unlike the studio version.
i listened to that session when it aired live... loved the song, still love it. i actually prefer studio versions being a bit more refined, it makes them even that much better live. would you rather have a studio version that is so raw/heavy/crazy that the live version pales in comparison and could never live up to?
Heck, even Abel sounds downright puny now on album compared to the live versions, but it certainly didn't the first time i heard it in 2005 . He doesn't go off that much on the studio take of Mr. November either compared in concert.

I love the way they transform their music when they play live, but I just get a little frustrated with that kind of things. I want them to explode in the album too.

there's a lot of subtle nuances on the studio version that are missing from the live version too though i'd argue, it's definitely a balance/give and take.

Did you see my bottom-paged question?
You going to the Red Rocks show?

Yeah...me and the lady are going for sure. I'm off that entire week actually; we'll be there tailgating beforehand as well.
I'm not listening to this until it comes out, but I'm curious for those that have heard it: how does it compare to Hight Violet the first couple of times you listened to that album?

Only done one listen so far, but it's a beautiful album. I had high hopes, but I think they may have exceeded them.
The Providence show is going to be something special for sure. June 4th is the first proper night of the tour.

I'm feeling this album differently than HV. HV was good initially but the songs didn't really hit me until I saw them live, it was also a stupidly good show. With this one I feel it is a subtle piece of art, the songs are flowing and I have a sense of cohesiveness that I hadn't on HV. I got the entire album in on the train ride home and just started it on the surround sound in my room a few minutes ago. I have to agree with Berninger, I think I read this, that the band does seem comfortable... I feel a follow up in less than three years... unless a live release occurs.
I must say that I don't know how I feel about the mix, I'm finding myself grasping for the guitars a bit too much.

Pretty freaking fantastic. So haunting and mesmerizing. Like watching a beautiful girl dance in puddle from a rain-soaked window.

There's certainly a pervasive mood to this tapestry. Lots of similar colours and tones.
