all I had was a slider and a fastball.

tho I did probably try a knuckle ball a few times.

I was good against right handed batters.

I know this is a joke thread, but this does raise a question of what is the defining feature of athleticism. Here you have the argument that it's strong hands, well coordinated by the eye, and the ability to produce insane leverage with a couple of body movements. I am definitely on the side of pro baseball being the most difficult of the big sports because of the split second reflexes required combined with the strength needed. Plus I think it's the only sport that uses a ball that could and has literally killed people.

However, I am also in awe of soccer players who can run for 90 minutes and kick a ball in ways that I love to watch as much as I love to watch a nasty breaking ball.

And reading David Foster Wallace on tennis has me in awe of all that.

But which combination of athletic abilities is the peak of human athleticism?

soccer is a good one as is hockey and basketball...always love that scene in the movie Airplane where Kareem talks to that kid in the cockpit about dragging his ass up and down the court for 48 minutes trying to guard Bill Walton..

SKiers (bias), tennis players, and soccer players probably are the strongest. Endurance, Strength, quickness.

Forgot about hockey. All the physicality of the NFL but with knives on your feet.

I do think that the NFL and the NHL share a certain literal insanity at the core. An ethos of here's a thing I can do exceptionally well that is very valuable and I will do it in an environment practically guaranteed to truncate how long I'm physically able to do it.

any organized sport or competition can have a valid argument. football, basketball, gymnastics, etc. are all hard and take athletic skill to even compete.

the sport with the best athletes is wrestling. it might come down to the fact that there's nothing involved except two people. there's barely any equipment, there's no ball or tools or anything. it's just two people fighting.
