Re: It's-a Me, Mario: A Mario Thread
hit 878 over the weekend. took quite a few hours to finally beat the Darker Side run, holy hell that was a tough one. The 2 remaining moons are the jump rope and beach volleyball minigames. Not sure i can stomach trying to complete those so i think i'm just gonna call it at 878mf wrote:Still picking away at Odyssey. Cleared 800 moons this morning.mf wrote:A few weeks ago i finally started playing Odyssey. I haven't played a Mario game since 64. It's not that I didn't want to i just didn't keep up with the Nintendo consoles for a long while....anyways i'm having so much damn fun. Finished the story, and now i'm just going back and collecting all those moons i missed. Sitting at about 420 i think so far. After that i think i will be picking up 3D All Stars so i can have a go at Galaxy and Sunshine.

Volleyball is easy - just stand in middle and throw your hat. I did best at jump rope when I gently tapped the button resulting in little jumps.

The volleyball star is much easier in co-op mode with two joycons (even if you are playing solo). I beat it on the second or third try this way.

I still play a lot of Mario 35 and I gotta say, I'm pretty good at it.

I will be flooding this thread with questions after I get Odyssey for Christmas.
But I may get it sooner with Covid restrictions tightening up again.

Same here. Averaging about a top 5 finish at this point. I usually lose by running out of time when the clock starts speeding up, missing a jump when I'm really rushing through things, or when I get 8 Lakitus on the screen at one time.Norris wrote:I still play a lot of Mario 35 and I gotta say, I'm pretty good at it.

Yeah I'm not truly happy with myself unless I'm in the top 3.Joesanity wrote:Same here. Averaging about a top 5 finish at this point. 3 or 4 tries and I got it, so then i had no choice but to suck it up and do the jump rope moon. was a pain but i got my 880.

I can't win 35.. I get to 2 constantly.. well, at least within the top 5.. and then my time rapidly diminishes yet the other guys go on forever
It happens constantly n pisses me off to the point im done with it

You need to make sure you maintain your clock so when you get down to the top 5 you're close to maxed out in time. Also have plenty of coins so when you get late in the game you can keep hitting the item roulette.

Re: It's-a Me, Mario: A Mario Thread
I like always sending my enemies to attackers because that's how you send them to mutiple people at once, and those people are also sending them right back at you. Which means you end up with a lot of enemies on the screen and as long as they're not lakitus that's a good thing because it means more time on your clock as you kill them.

Re: It's-a Me, Mario: A Mario Thread
What's your fave and least favorite levels to play through?
Aside from any levels with Lakitu, I can't stand 1-3 anymore. Not enough enemies, no star to let you blitz through it and not enough flat ground. The other tree levels don't come up that often so when they do it's still novel and interesting.
I really like 4-4 and 7-4 and I usually pick one of those two on the select screen.

1-2, 8-3, 7-1, 3-2, 5-1, 5-2
I usually pick one at random though.

Super Mario 3D World is a top tier Mario Game and Bowser's Fury looks great.
