I'm really digging this song. Almost like they are blending some country rock in there as well.

I also hear The Cult a bit.

U2? not so much.

Looking forward to it!

Any audio rips of the new song or still just youtube? I'll capture the audio if someone else hasn't already.

Giving this a couple of listens today (along with Future Days) and I like them both a lot more than I did last night.

I think I dismissed them upon the first few notes last night, because I really wanted that soundcheck song, or something like it. This song has potential, I am excited to hear more clearly what Stone/etc are doing. Same with FD.

I completely agree. Last night I was kind of on the fence, but after listening to them today I have a higher appreciation for them especially LB. I don't think that sounds like something off BS. Lots of different things going on.

I'm loving the self referencing of late.
"Caught a bolt of lighting, cursed the day he let it go" and now "You gotta know you'll never let her go, she's a lightning bolt"

Kudos to VideoGremmie for the audio quality here.

Ha was just about to post this, really digging this song more and more especially with the better recordings that have surfaced like this one. Still not feeling Future Days at all, but I'm definitely looking forward to hearing the studio version of this one.

Christ I really hope they don't cut Mike's solo short on the album.....

The ebow solo was kinda boring, I thought, especially after listening a little closer. Doesn't look like he ever even switched strings with it, just ran up and down a couple times. Maybe the studio version will be a little more fleshed out.

What are the chances that this one's a lot slower on the studio version? Pretty high, right? I'm guessing it might be Unthought Known / In Hiding pace.

Lightning Bolt reminds me of several Soundgarden songs, primarily Black Saturday, I also hear Switch Opens.

Just hear some similar elements, nowhere near same song at all.

and I pointed out the common elements between Lightning Bolt and the Perfect Strangers theme. It's a veritable hodgepodge! a cornucopia if you will!

Dafaq, guys? This song is really fucking cool. MFC and Leatherman is what this reminds me of. I like it. I like it a lot. Getting excited for this album. What a bizarre feeling I haven't had from PJ in many many years.

:ohyeah!:

Happy for you, friend. I'm not quite up there, but if we get studio versions that aren't terrible, I'll be right there with you.

The thing is, most bands reach a point where art and ambition fade, while craft and technical control have benefited from years of effort. For whatever else the last two records were or weren't, they were never without artistic intention or ambitious hope. Mind Your Manners doesn't feel void of artistic focus or passion-fueled ambition, either, for what it's worth.

These two songs, sadly, sound 100% on the latter side of the musical spectrum....they produce a sense of a band full of acquired songwriting craft and experiential song construction capabilities, but without any greater artistic want or evident desire to reach just a little bit further out on that shaking limb.

Do.

Not.

Want.
