Also, Arcade Fire ...im sure Ed will pop up there too.
The Big Day Out has unveiled its biggest-ever line-up, with many bands wanting to join the 2014 travelling musical circus after Seattle stayers Pearl Jam signed on to the bill. Grammy award-winning Canadian indie rockers Arcade Fire are mates with Pearl Jam and said yes just as West was also courting reunited Brit pop superstars Blur.

Fellow Seattle grunge architects Mudhoney and Cosmic Psychos, the Australian band both American acts cite as an influence, were on Pearl Jam's wishlist.

I don't think H&C are a cliche, still the greatest pub rock act I ever saw (but that was in the 80s mind, when you were not even a scratch in your old man's right ball sack). Certainly TYAAM has achieved cliche status though, and I do so wish it would be left alone.

I suppose having Holy Grail played ad nauseum every September does add a tad to cliche too though.

Whatevs, I have a Hunnas 35 track mix that I still play often today and get great joy from. See if you can guess 2 tracks that aren't on it...

Collected Works is a nice listen every so often. I missed seeing them live but unfortunately saw Holy Grail at a 2006 World Cup qualifier. That's his super fund right there.

It's just not necessary for him to do it. Holy Grail is even more cliche than TYAAM haha

I know I'm late to the thread but this is pretty much unmissable despite the routine problems with the BDO crowd.

I ended up getting tix for the first Sydney BDO rather than the second. I figure that way if there truly are no sideshows, then I'm more likely to be able to score a last minute ticket to the second Sydney show should I decide to pull that tres expensive trigger...

Sound reasoning. You'll end up at both I'm sure.

Has a band ever done the BDO circuit and then gone back around the country doing side shows?

The reason is that Springsteen is touring Aust in Feb and H+C are supporting him in Melb only (Feb 15). I bet Ed would love to see that but also I find it strange that H+C are reforming for just 1 show. Maybe it's 1 Springsteen show and there's a couple of others not announced yet. Could PJ add a couple of dates after Perth BDO Feb 2? Springsteen plays Perth Feb 7 so there may be an Ed appearance there.

Just a thought. And was there ever confirmation that BDO are the ONLY shows?

I live in Broome and the Perth BDO is on Sun 2nd Feb. I'll actually be in Perth that day but its because I'll be dropping my son at boarding school - that's the "full day welcome/orientation" day thing. I did think about wagging and taking Zac with me (PJ, Arcade Fire, Snooooooo-oop after all) but having him out till 2am or something just doesn't fit.

Bummer for sure, but on the positive side I'll be back in Perth the very next weekend to see Brucie, so I'm cool with the result.

The National are then playing at the gorgeous Belvoir Amphitheatre on the next Friday (14th) and I'm bummed about that timing too as I can't justify another $1,000 round trip for flights and the time off work again.

But so be it. I've seen PJ twice and I'm sure I'll get another shot at The National. I'm happy to be able to cross Bruce off my bucket list for sure.

Both The national and PJ will be back again so don't worry. Bruce is great live and that would be the pick of them. If PJ were doing a theatre tour it'd be different.

It's a hassle travelling to cities for shows here but Broome is a trek. I feel for you guys and the Tasmanians. I have 2hrs from Newcastle to Sydney but some acts do make it up here. Gone are the days of London where I could see a gig every night.

i seriously can't believe eddie played in canberra and not hobart. who the fuck plays in canberra? hobart has been gaining popularity with touring artists for a few years now with falls festival, but also with mofo and now dark mofo in the winter. it just shows how out of touch he and the mgmt are. too old m8. eddie would be right at home playing at mona or falls.

Thought this had better be posted here too.

Second Sydney show cancelled.

Hi all,

Perhaps we were a bit ambitious expanding to two dates in Sydney for this year’s Big Day Out…

The Sydney Big Day Out show scheduled for Monday, January 27 will now be merged into one show on Sunday, January 26, Australia Day.

Fans who purchased tickets for the Monday, January 27 show will have three options:

You can use your January 27 ticket for the January 26 festival – there is no need to exchange your tickets if you wish to attend the Big Day Out on Sunday 26 January as they are automatically valid.
You can get a full refund until October 30, 2013 – information is listed below.
You can exchange your 27 January ticket(s) for any other (Gold Coast, Melbourne, Adelaide or Perth) Australian Big Day Out festival – information is listed below.
Tickets will remain available for the Sunday, January 26 BDO show in Sydney through our Website at http://www.bigdayout.com and through Ticketmaster until sold out.

While we are looking into a possible expanded capacity for the 26 January, given the merge of the two shows, tickets to January 26 are anticipated to sell out much earlier so do not delay if you have not already purchased.

We look forward to celebrating Australia Day with you… it’s going to be an AMAZING day and evening of music.

Oh shit. Except I had over extended and now that avoids an argument at home. So it's a lose and a win.

Are you coming to day 1, Adam? Hope you hadn't booked flights yet.
