Well, I didn't mean to watch that Palestinian dad hugging his baby for the last time as I thought he was having to leave it. Turns out I was watching him hug his son's corpse.
That ain't leavin the brain anytime soon.

I know what you are saying dime, I do. Israel is not innocent in their past with Palestine. But the way you come in here phrasing everything makes it seem like you are defending the videos of mothers and small children being kidnapped, or videos of a festival goer hiding on his stomach under a car when he is executed in the back, not even knowing it is coming. Or the verified reports that babies were decapitated. And Hamas was "elected" by the people of Palestine. I think discussing it as how did we get here and how do we get out of it rather than "if you support Israel you are for genocide" is the better approach.
fwiw, something like 53% of Palestinians approved of Hamas leadership when they took over, but now it’s down to 20-30% and probably falling further.

This is a good point, but it’s not like they can vote them out.

Re: The War on Terror /Central Asia/Mid East/Africa thread
The Israeli government of Benjamin Netanyahu has initiated a total blockade of Gaza amidst a merciless scorched-earth bombing campaign. The country’s defense minister said Israel will operate with an iron fist in its war against “human animals” following the well-coordinated surprise attacks over the weekend led by Hamas. The unprecedented raids into Israel over the weekend killed scores of both Israeli military and civilians. Hamas has vowed to execute Israeli hostages in retaliation for Israel’s bombing of civilian sites in Gaza.
This week on Intercepted, Al Jazeera’s senior political analyst Marwan Bishara joins Jeremy Scahill and Murtaza Hussain for a wide-ranging discussion on Hamas’s strategy, Netanyahu’s possible attempt to draw the U.S. into a war with Iran, and the prospects for a wider Middle East war. They also discuss the difference in media coverage of Palestinian and Israeli violence and the deaths of civilians, as well as the Biden administration’s role in the crisis.

Technically I suppose you could describe 1200 victims as “scores”, but it’s distasteful

Because if your only understanding of violence is some cartoonish abstraction from Call or Duty or GTA or action movies or music videos or the biography of Che you read in college, you will never understand what it means when modern armies fight. You have to see so you will really know how important peace is and how hard we have to work to ensure it's possible.

That one of the music fest woman unconscious in the back of a Hamas truck is the one that f’d me up this week.

Also if you can't feel empathy, anger, and sadness without seeing it for your own eyes you might want to see a therapist
