Exactly. It has become a nothing burger of a play. This should make things more exciting.

One of the better rules coming from the XFL.
What’s funny is the new UFL is reverting back to a more traditional kickoff format.

It won't prevent it completely, but will make defenders more mindful and potentially prevent some tragic injuries

Running guys down is not a hip drop tackle. DK Metcalf running down Budda Baker tackle is still fine. The tackle that injured Mark Andrews this season is what they’re banning; you have to drop your hips and swivel into the ball carrier’s legs for it to be a penalty. I don’t think it will be perfect, but based on the strong reaction people have had to this rule I didn’t know so many people loved knee injuries.

I’d be excited if I was a Houston fan. This could be Beckham in LA or Brown in Tampa. If they can get it done this season. This shit will not have a long shelf life.
