I hate the idea of them having a "consistent" show as some kind of commercial product. I can see them moving that way w less songs, more of Eddie story telling to connect w the arms length spectators, less varied sets, and wearing the same clothes everyday. I hope they don't get to the Rolling Stones and RHCP experience. I still have some hope as they still heavily play DM and this show only had 6 or 7 repeats, half of which are from DM. Unfortunately I see they are trying to be a stadium band that can make tons of money without touring very much. They might not have the stamina but I loved the way they did the 2016 tour.

After seeing how much of the merch people were buying and how long the lines were for it, it wouldn’t take much to convince me that all they have to do is send their merch truck from town to town and the band wouldn’t even have to play. If they don’t make more from the merch than the actual ticket sales, I’d be totally shocked.

I saw Glen both nights. From my perspective the crowd was more into him Thursday. Though on Sat a guy near me who appeared to know no PJ songs mouthed the words to two or three Glen songs.

This merch thing is now crazy, plenty were buying merch during the set on the floor merch stand. The vast majority of the merch lines were casual fans or not fans and documenting their experience IMO.

Yes -- very well received by those in their seats at the time. He and his band were tight. I will be buying all of his music when we get home.

to that, surely playing a baseball field, with a super limited capacity, is a loss maker for them, not an earner?

I barely made it to PJ night one, but I made sure to catch Glen night 2. He commented there were more people there night 2 and he was happy with that. I thought he was great. He came out in layered clothes and a knit hat and looked like the mascot for an effective cough drop marketed for deep sea fisherman. His sleeves often covered his hands when he played, and his acoustic has prominent trauma scars from his hammering on it.

I loved his band as well. The drummer seemed to look at Glen for strength, if that makes any sense. It’s like he’d look up, lock in, and then hit harder. The fiddle player looked like a busker Glen found on the street and offered a warm meal. The lady on keyboard I could hardly stop staring at. My word, she’s a beautiful lass.

His songs are as great as his eyebrows are bushy, and they’re made for poets and lovers and lost souls in pubs, bars, and beer halls. It’s incredible that he’s playing them in sprawling ball parks and the most famous arena in North America. He should really always open for Pearl Jam.

Ed looks like a video game character in a boss fight when you accidentally hit the crouch button in a panic.
