This is my favourite closer in a long long time. Just wonderful. The opening reminds me a little of the Tragically Hip.

Very true . I wouldn't say this isn't as good as any closer period. Might not be better . This song treads where giants tread.

While I am not quite as big of a fan of this one as some of you, I am oh so grateful Brenda O'Brien was not in the studio to add a big ole glop of cheez to this one in particular to utterly ruin it.

I love the sound of the drums at the beginning.
Then it leads into that "My Hometown" like synth / keys part on the intro.
I feel this sets the vibe so perfectly and was such a great choice

The song just builds and then soars
Love how it then comes down quiet at the end, leading into a kind of a Footsteps type outro

The song is an emotional rollercoaster

Great lyrics , great delivery & great performance

Album closes out perfectly

It finishes, and then I sit there for a few moments taking it all in

That's exactly what I thought on first listen. I can't quite put my finger on it, but some combination of Toronto #4 and Flamenco or something? I still hear the Hip in the opening with every listen.

Finally got my hands on the CD and fired it up in the car so I could blast at max volume while singing at the top of my lungs. I got too choked up at the end of the song to sing the outro. :heartbeat:

I really like how the band decided to not feature a McCready solo in the outro to this song on an album full of them. It's much more impactful to end with every guitarist banging out the same basic riff with Ed soaring above it. Just top level stuff.

Very different feel for Pearl Jam, Matt on the wood blocks I believe during the verse in a Door's The End beat lead to a cathartic chorus. Leave you with not a yawn before the sun rises again,.. as in repeat the disc.

Watt's best contribution to this album may be prodding the boys to hit this outro riff. It's gonna be an encore set highlight.
