Adapting to the lingo is just easier in everyday convo. Minimizes the blank stares. My wife learned that moving the opposite direction.

Anyway, all our shit is here. It’s a lot, but also not totally terrible. I also just confirmed that my wife has indeed struck me down with Covid. I don’t remember much in the rona blur that was today.

My kid is sleeping on a mattress on the floor tonight, cuz there’s no way I’m assembling a bed in this weakened state. I’ll just do it all wrong anyway.

Being surrounded by all my worldly belongings is giving me comfort as I stare down corona obliteration.

The house is starting to take shape after everything landed on Friday. I put together several dining chairs yesterday, we continued to unpack boxes, straightened up the garage for storage needs, and last night I had one last burst of energy to hang some art in key places to make the place look a bit more settled.

Today’s project was putting together the IKEA sofa bed, which I just completed. Contemplating doing the kid’s bed next, but that’ll be a bigger job and I’m not sure I’ll have time before picking up the kid from school. I also need to be mindful of my energy level; still got a big old thick line on last night’s Covid test. Not sure how I’ve mustered enough energy to do what I’ve done so far. I’ve definitely needed to take breaks as I tire faster.

though i walk through the valley of the shadow of death, i fear not, for the ikea assembly is almost over

Haha. I’d put this sofa together when we first bought it a few years ago, and remembered it being fairly easy and straightforward, which it was. Weird for ikea, I know.

I submitted a claim for $7200 to our shipping company, related to any damages or missing items. They came back with $4500, which is more than I expected. Damages are minimal and we can live with, and the missing items were just minor things we can mostly replace.
