i wouldn't say i hate turkey, but i'm in it for the sides and desserts.

i always take the smallest amount of turkey, and fuck-ton of sides.

then i nap and go back for a plate of more sides.

I do the same as dad. Plenty of dressing, potatoes, green beans, sweet potatoes with a side of turkey.

i know this is sacrilegious, but i actually prefer stove top stuffing to homemade stuffing. i could a whole box smothered in gravy. in fact, i just may.

i love stove top stuffing too, and feel the same about eating a whole box.

however, several years ago, my wife made homemade stuffing, using an unsliced loaf of day-old bakery bread, and i swear it was the best damn stuffing I've ever had in my life. sadly, she tried duplicating it a year or so ago, and it wasn't the same.

1. everyone loads up on sides compared to turkey

2. stovetop is good stuff, but a proper homemade stuffing puts it to shame. we make one that includes apples and pork that's one of the best things ever.

make this stuffing, fam:
Spoiler: show
Ingredients:
1 sweet onion (diced)
1 bulk celery (diced)
3-4 apples (skinned, cored and chopped)
1-1.5 lbs ground pork sausage
2 bags stuffing bread
5-6 cups chicken stock
1 stick of butter

Directions:
Brown the sausage and drain. Brown onion and celery in 1/2 stck butter. Combine onion, celery, sausage, apples and 1/2 stick melted butter in a LARGE BOWL. Add stuffing/breading into bowl. Soak in chicken broth. you wnat the stuffing to be very soft and mushy. If you do not have enough chicken stock you can substitute water as well to have enough liquid. season with salt and pepper as desired.

that sounds awesome. but i prefer not to mix sweet with savory. i would leave out the apples if i was making it.
