And daughter knocked out hold on and watchtower in the encore
That's a good move though.
No it's not
Yes, it is.
Nuh-huh. It's not.
Hold On + Watchtower -> Daughter w/out tag
Checkmate
Two songs that kind of suck can't be better than one of the best.

Anything that keeps Pearl Jam from playing "Watchtower" is a good anything in my book.

Watchtower, Know Your Rights, and The Real Me are my 3 least favorite covers they do. And I've gotten all three of those between the last two shows I've been to. :/

The Real Me is miles ahead of the other two
Watchtower, Know Your Rights, Mother, and (the thankfully forgotten about) Driven to Tears are probably my least favorite covers

You all are nuts.
Watchtower is a great way to close a show, I think. I loved it at Bonnaroo. Would I rather have one of their own? Indifference? probably. But Watchtower >>> RIFTW or Fuckin' Up
I think The Real Me is a stellar cover for them. I really enjoy hearing it. Same with Baba, even if its overplayed. They can play that one every show I'm at. Maybe it's just the Who that I enjoy. Love Reign Over Me is great, too. They should bring back "The Seeker"
Mother is just bland, I agree. Know Your Rights, Public Image both suck, agree. Fortunate Son is also a horrible cover choice for them. Pearl Jam and Creedence just don't mix.
I guess part of it is I never really have enjoyed Daughter all that much.

They should play less covers, period. I feel that way about most bands I go see.

Oh man, you guys are ripping on Watchtower? I was hoping that would take the place of RITFW is their perennial closing cover. Public Image was one cover I just could never warm up to ......

I don't mind a couple of covers, but you have to cycle them out every couple of years. I'm not remotely interested in hearing RITFW.

Their cover of Public Image is excellent.
As a huge Clash fan, I have to say that their Know Your Rights cover is pretty awkward--maybe the most awkward thing I've heard them too. Tricky song with the ad-libbish half spoken verses too.

Pearl Jam does one of the worst covers of Watchtower of all time. It's awful.

I left during RITFW at Wrigley. And I don't feel the least bit bad about it.
As soon as they started it, I was gone. Couldn't take being there anymore... I had been up for 21 hours.

Shouldnt a cover be a fun little surprise at the end of a show? Instead they just drag it out for the millionth time as if its their song.
Their whole second encore thing makes zero sense to me anyway. the end of the first set or the first encore should be where they break out the standards, not two hours into the show. maybe. I dunno.

Guys, they shouldn't cover Watchtower, let alone close with it. Among other reasons, they're not the Dave Matthews Band.
