Nah, that was before the post-Riot Act cash grab. I think the contempt for the fans started sometime in the second half of the last decade. Did I mention that this is just my opinion and not fact? I realize it can be hard to tell the difference.

I know it's your opinion, and I'm the last one to defend modern day PJ. But like VinylGuy said, how is this different than sleepless nights or rocking in the free world with bono? or devil doll with x?

It's ok if you don't like this, but if you're going to be consistent you can't be mad at the notion of them including this performance and then go on and say Sleepless Nights is just fine.

It's ok if you just don't like it, but you sound like a moron trying to make this into another example of modern Pearl Jam being a bunch of douche bags.

It's no Ramblings, one or two.

It's not a cash grab -- they've been releasing these for 20 years. It does, however, express contempt for their audience. As in, "these clowns will buy literally any piece of shit we throw at them. Let's have Ed fart in the microphone and release it as a single. No better yet, let's have some actress buddy of Ed's fart in the microphone and release that as a single. Limited edition, numbered box set of Ed's friends farting while he strums an acoustic. Seriously! They'll buy it, watch!" It's almost like they keep pushing the envelope in that regard, new lows each year.

If you guys don't see a difference between PJ's musical collaborations with Bono, Beck, Robert Plant, Corrine Tucker, Jay-Z, and X and the "collaboration" on "Shattered," I'm not sure what to tell you. IMO there's a huge difference.

I agree that there's a huge difference, but it's the b-side of a Holiday single that is traditionally ok at best. This will end up getting the same two listens that most of them get from me. I expect it to be pointless every years. Sometimes I'm surprised. This isn't one of those times. It's not a huge deal.

PJ did Ramblings in..91? 93?? The band just talking and saying happy christmas...fuck imagine this fan base if they did the same this year...

"THEY ARE FARTING AND RELEASING IT BECAUSE THEY KNOW WE ARE BUYING IT!"

i may see your point with some items at the ten club, and even if i dont agree with that, this xmas single is completely different.

I so agree with you on that point. My pithy remark got taken all seriously.

Just watched a version of 99 problems on YouTube. I personally love this collaboration. But when it ends, it shows a picture of the Backspacer cover replaced with cleavage and weed. Dammit! I thought this could happen.

She's an actress! Beck and even fucking Bono are accomplished musicians. The best thing she ever been a part of was fucking Waterworld. This is just a butchering of a really good Stones song.

Guys this is terrible.

I wonder if it is possible to filter out the audience noise from Shattered. It would be nice to hear a more 'clean' studio-like version of this.

I think the obvious question we need to be asking is do we think Ed has ever brought Jeanne Tripplehorn out on one of his helicoptor pooping trips*?

*Should we just call it "helicrapting" from now on?

Imagine all of the new members they could've gotten with a better song choice and more visually stunning video to go with it. Like, Ed playing a medley of Just Breathe/Livin' On a Prayer on a baseball bat-shaped ukulele while sitting at home plate at Wrigley Field on a sunny afternoon. Then they could have CGI'd ghosts of dead Cubs players and Andy Wood and Kurt Cobain and Layne Staley and Johnny Ramone playing baseball all around him while he sings.

I wonder if Santa puts ashes in their stocking when they're good

Aren't a few things from the 95 single just Eddie and other musicians?

It was amusing. And every few years when I feel the urge to listen it will still be amusing. I've already listened twice, which makes it more successful than ramblings 2.

It's a joke. And a pretty good one.

If the christmas singles were consistently great I could see a reason to be upset at a little joke song like this, but lets face it, the bar isn't exactly set high for these things. At least its entertaining once, which is more than I can say for most of these.

This really isn't amusing to me on any level.

Oh well, not like I pay 10C dues or anything.
