I dig parts of it a lot. Agreed it should play out well live
Parts remind me of Victory Dance and then there's a solo Jim James vibe as well.

Lyrics aren't doing much for me but I'm not a big lyric guy to begin with

this album doesn't sound like a mmj album. very different from anything done in the past.

That doesn't inspire hope.

That was my first reaction as well. Been listening on repeat today and it's definitely growing nicely on me. Stand outs so far for me are Believe, Tropics and Only Memories Remain. :heartbeat:

depends what you're looking for. its refreshing in a way. mmj can try to retread the golden years of at dawn thru z. james doesn't (maybe can't) sing in that range / key anymore and his songwriting has evolved.

yeah i've been listening to it too. it sounds interesting. we'll see how it opens up live.

Interesting listen and enjoyable but its lacking something. Like a monster track that just floors me.

listened once. seems a lot room to do some nice things live. Can't say I love it yet but that could be a good thing. A lot going on and it will be fun to dive in more once its released.

I'm glad they got away from the Outta My System sound that I feared would be all over this one

Also, I'm wondering if this one is a bit out there because they know next years follow up will be a little more straightforward. Maybe with such a short window between the two they felt they could be a little more adventurous

Btw, this link was posted on the pearl jam forum. I'm amazed it's still up but if anybody is looking to stream this instead of download this worked fine for me

This album is really good. Super excited for a return to form for these guys from their last two efforts. Their live show is killer and worth going regardless, but to have some new material like this to add to it.... going to be some killer shows this summer. Word from the secret shows they played a week ago is that these new tunes are much heavier live as well.

I didn't care for this new album at all when it first leaked, but 2-3 weeks later I can't stop listening to it. Definitely a grower and I can't wait to see these new songs in concert.

I think I want to like the new one. I mean, it sounds like something that should be good. I just don't really need it, I guess.

Listened to Okonokos again today for the first time in ages. So good.
