Haha. After the solo, before the last chorus: "THE HENS, THE HENS".

"Sleeping By Myself", now, my favorite song for Stip to forget to capitalize the title of.

Guys, I really like this song. I think it's pretty. I think having it in the album adds an interesting color to it. I enjoy listening to it.

It feels like the arrangement doesn't quite know what it wants to be: country shuffle? Christmas song shimmery? Calypso?

That was good.
Now "Yellow Moon", aka "Lowlight"'s dilettante little brother.

I think this song has some nice elements to it, and I like the base song itself, but it's really done a disservice by the production. It sounds so plasticky.

I wish it, like, exploded at the end. Just a huge blast of distortion and harmonics and heaviness. Instead, more twinkle-twinkle piano. It's so muted.

Ah. Speaking of twinkle-twinkle.

There are 4 seconds worth saving in "Future Days": "I believe". I like how the melody turns and kind of settles on that phrase. Everything surrounding it, though, gaudy schmaltz. Have we talked about how cheap that guitar sounds?

you can throw a pendulum, but I dont think a pendulum can throw. Certainly not to and fro. What would be the point of that?

I think that's the most apt Sirens comparison I've read, it's exactly that particular kind of awful.
theplatypus wrote:Fucking hell, "Infallible". Here we go. I fucking loathe this song.
It really is the worst.
theplatypus wrote:I know this is just 'cause I listened to a lot of The Cure growing up, but the song this reminds me most of is "Siamese Twins" from Pornography. Except that song is a lot better.
Oh honey, don't even.
theplatypus wrote:There's really not a whole lot to it. I mean, Jeff's circular bass line is kind of nice. People comparing it to "Sleight of Hand" or "Of the Girl" are off their rocker.
Agreed.
I feel like listening to Swallowed Whole again now.

I think I just want this record to sound messier than it does. Less neat. Less mannered.

Another line I like: "no resistance, no alarms, please this is too good to be gone."

That fiddle, by the way, is really weird. It has a strange sound to it. I don't know if it's because of how it is recorded. I also wish it was playing something other than the verse melody. Come on, violin lady.

Well, that was that. Not horrible. Some good moments. A lot of stuff I never want to go back to. Fuck you "Infallible."

Can you even conceive of this modern day pearl jam doing something like that? I can't even imagine.

I enjoyed reading through that thank you. My opinions have developed similar to yours on this. I never listen to infallible or sirens. They have become travesties in my mind. The only standouts here are swallowed whole, my fathers son, sleeping by myself, and lighting bolt live. Pendulum is too simple to have any longevity, and the rest range from mediocre to awful.
