The Braves approve this post.

I'm genuinely looking forward to 2017. I mean it. Swansby, Albies and Smith could be our "up the middle" for a decade.
I expect 2016 to be worse than 2015, however. I originally thought 59-103, but I have spring optimism 70-92.

A 100 loss season is not unrealistic. I'm sure I'll go to a couple games anyway but I have really low expectations this year.
I'll start paying attention again when they start winning.

It's nice this time of year. Good time to go enjoy the ballpark.
The starting rotation.....is going to be an adventure.

I'm looking forward to 60 different lineups in the first 2 months.

Nah, we should have a regular lineup until injuries or trades.

The day off after the Opener is understandable but annoying. This year though they have day off on Thursday too before settling into a regular daily schedule.

Hey man, they were in it. Chalk that loss up yet again to BJ Upton's contract.
We will have a really good pitching staff soon enough, the one we have now, is hot ass garbage, but they were in it, and that was fun, and I'm pretty confident Washington will fail down the stretch yet again.

I'm chalking that one up to defensive replacement. Bum.

I'm just saying... we had a closer, then we didn't have a closer....

Andrelton Simmons >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Eric Aybar.

We need to adjust our expectations. By some advanced analytics, Simmons had the best season by a defender ever - 2013, I think. He was routinely A++. Anyone would be a downgrade.

Until we see the pitchers in that trade, it was always going to be disappointing, no matter how much Coppy tries to sell Aybar. That always felt like a throw in to give them a starter this year that they could potentially use as a trade piece either this offseason or at the deadline.
I love the overall plan. I love that Copellela is in this to try and build a champion, not just very good but yeah, until we see whether or not the pitchers we got in the trade are top of the rotation starters (or at least one of them) it's going to be disappointing.
Sure, Simmons is a light bat, he's a hall of fame defensive shortstop by anyone's metric and in the last two years we've traded one of if not the best closers in the game for money considerations and easily the best defensive shortstop of a generation for hopefully an ace.
I think next year is going to be pretty awesome, but they are going to lose 100 games this year. This will be the worst season since 87 or 88. It happens, it's necessary to get better and it will still be fun to go to the ball park, but this particular collection of talent is not major league quality.

Only 1 year of Aybar. The Swanson / Albies era begins next year.

Last time they were off to as bad of start they opened with 10 losses & only won 54 all year ('88). I don't think they will be that awful but it's going to be a long season.

I could see them losing 100 games pretty easily, so a few more losses isn't all that hard to imagine.

The Simmons trade looks worse by the second.
