So hey team. Bammer here.
If PJ opened for another band nextdoor tonight in a 5000 seat venue, someone would have taken a picture of it. Someone would have posted that picture online. Someone on RM would have gotten their mitts on that picture and posted it here sometime in the past four hours or so.
I am good at deductive reasoning. Goodnight.

So Moline, they play the entire No Code album. Tonight in St. Paul they don't play one song from No Code by my count. Not sure what to think of that. Other than it's one of my favorite albums so a little disappointed.

No problem man. It was a really fun show to attend. Not the exact setlist I would have chosen in many respects, but still a lot of fun. I got Release for the first time, which was amazing. It's been my favorite song since I was 12 and it was a dream come true to finally hear it live. It's been 8 years since my last PJ show, hopefully my next will be much sooner. Goodnight everybody.

no Pearl Jam did not open for Bastille at Roy Wilkins
Jesus people, come on.
Bastille did however walk across the PJ stage before their set and take in the rest of the PJ show after their set.

Maybe the punt gif was a little harsh. After thinking about it for a while, I can see where this makes sense for an area that really hasn't gotten the hits played here because PJ doesn't play here often. They just left out the hits/singles the veteran fans want to hear (Immortality, NAIS, etc.) in favor of the more subdued and bland sounding tracks (Last Kiss, Daughter) and then basically did that the whole show. It didn't help that the crowd was pretty blah and I think a lot of people honestly thought they were going to get Vs. all the way through. Eddie had to try and whip up the crowd several times during the encores to little avail. I think he realized he had lost the them and gave Betterman all he had, but the whole thing just never came together. This is a band with a deep catalog and they chose to reject it last night. Maybe that was an experiment as well.
Misc:
Stone went into Alive before Setting Forth and Eddie had to stop him, saying "we are going to play that other one... remember? Remember we had that conversation about playing the other one"... so that dynamic is back.
A rather good looking woman on the rail had sign that there were three generations of PJ fans from her family there; her father, her, and her unborn child and wanted Eddie to announce the gender to her dad at the show. Eddie was nice enough to do it, a boy, and then went right into a song about abortion. Classic Eddie.

I made it about a minute and I was out. My GF likes a few songs by these guys but I don't hold that against her. Even though she likes a lot of good music there is something in the DNA of girls to like shit like this sometimes.
